A BOON FOR PREGNANT WOMEN: Helping to Make a Decision About Feeding of their Babies

Background
The recent National Family Health Survey(NFHS- 5)from 22 States/UTs shows that only 1 in 2 women who deliver in a health facility, is able to begin breastfeeding within an hour of birth. The World Health Organisation recommends a formal session on counselling during pregnancy on breastfeeding and supporting for making well-informed decisions. The Mothers Absolute Affection (MAA) programme launched in 2016 by the MOHFW Government of India also recommends antenatal counselling. The World Bank study in 2019 revealed that most pregnant women missed discussions about feeding the baby during pregnancy among other observations.
To bridge this gap the Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India (BPNI) is launching a new initiative- “iDECIDE: About Feeding My Baby”.
BPNI believes that this initiative will complement your day-to-day work-saving your time and ensuring that discussion on feeding happens during pregnancy itself.
Aim is to reach out to maximum number of pregnant women and their husbands.
Objectives of the Webinar include:
- To introduce and demonstrate the web portal “iDECIDE About Feeding My Baby”
- To seek support and partnership for amplifying the reach.
