BPNI in strategic partnership with Association of Health Care Providers of India (AHPI) is launching “BFHI-India” initiative for the accreditation of private hospitals with maternity services in order to improve breastfeeding practices in the health facilities.
The programme anchors scientific evidence, WHO’s Ten steps to successful breastfeeding and Government of India- MoHFW’s Mothers Absolute Affection (MAA) programme guidance.
This initiative is voluntary and includes two components: self assessment and independent external assessment. The National Accreditation Centre will provide grading to the hospital services for breastfeeding support and practice based on a framework of indicators.
